A boring, and a pitiful ending to a wonderful series. Sveti was so annoying and dumb I was hoping she'd get killed off and Sam would get to move on. Speaking of Sam, weakest male character ever. Rest of characters were superficial and easily seen through. So disappointed!!!! If you are a fan of this series, you won't miss anything by skipping this book.

I received copy of this book from author via NetGallery for an honest review. Hopefully I will not give any spoilers.

This couple moved to number 2 on my McCloud couple list bypassing Davy and Margot. Connor and Erin are still my favorites.

Sveti had a back story and was known from previous books as was Sam. They didn’t seem to go together but the more you read and got to know these characters, the more they belonged. She seemed cold and distant and just plain odd at times, but she had a really really good reason for that. She had so much to get over and get through. Then you have Sam. He was a typical and perfect Shannon McKenna alpha hero. Her books are like roller coaster rides or action flicks. They keep your heart pounding and keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus I love her villains, they are like James Bond type villains and perfect for each and every story. I love the way Ms. McKenna shows couples with their imperfect matings and windy roads to their HEAs. I hate reading a book and knowing what is coming next. I’m not talking about the ending which we know will be with the HEA and maybe even a wedding, I’m talking about an expected and boring story that you could have written yourself. You will never ever get that with Ms. McKenna.

I have to say that I’m so so so sad that this is the last book in this series. I love this series and these characters and they have become so real to me. I loved reading and seeing how the other characters in the series were doing since she always had info in each and every new book. Since I got sad at the end of the book, I had to start rereading the whole series. I’m not done yet so I still have more McClouds to look forward to before I have to start my withdrawal.

I would recommend any and all Shannon McKenna books, but since this book has moved to my one of my all time favorite books of all time, I highly recommend this book. I really recommend buying and reading the whole series. I know I have all her books not just in print but in ebook form as well so no matter what I can go back and read and visit the McClouds anytime I want.
It is rare, rare, rare that I decide not to finish a book....especially one I paid for. And I can't believe I'm doing it now since I have much love for the McCloud series. I like clever writing, I like witty repartee, I like fast pace. What I don't like are whiny, woe-is-me characters. And on top of that, so dour, so depressing! Every page (almost literally!) is Sveti retreating or thinking about retreating, fighting or thinking about fighting, making a dumb decision or about to make a dumb decision, having smokescreen sex or thinking about having smokescreen sex. I put it down 19% of the way through, then thought "how much longer can this plot device go on" so I picked it back up. I'm giving up at 51% of the way. We get it, you're damaged, you're broken, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada. I'm sure I've been this disappointed in a book before, but it's been a long while.
I generally love Shannon McKenna books and snap them up as soon as they are published. However, this latest book bothers me. I don't like either of the main characters. He is a "macho wimp", and she is more of a bull-headed nerotic than a strong heroine. Just when there is a bit of snappy dialogue, they say or do something so stupid I just want to slap them both! I hate not finishing a book........especially when I pay for it, but I may have to throw in the towel on this one. Come on Shannon.
These books are extremely engrossing, at least I couldn’t put them down. They need to be read in order as each one follows the other. I give praise to Shannon McKenna on keeping names in order as the books continue. There was a lot of research put out in describing the events as they preceded. Some may not grasp the dangerous completed drama in these books, but I believe they could be or come to pass. Sex trafficking , human captives used for organ donation , danger in drug enhancing. Even exposing air born viruses to kill off thousands, then chemical warfare, using people by inducing cancers , and failing in finding the correct antidote leaving the failures to die ect .They are all extremely daring books with happy endings. Caution if you don’t like a lot of sex scenes, then they not be for you, but if you like danger and intense drama thru each book, and a very well edited book, then try them. I honestly could not put them down as I followed the life’s of all the characters.
My hats off to Shannon McKenna very good job.
